Learn to release the old

What beliefs and emotions do you need to heal? Look around at your life right now. What are you thinking? What are you talking about? What issues are cropping up in your life? Who are you talking about? What are you remembering? Who is coming back into your life? What hurts? Is that feeling familiar? When have you felt it before?

Once you’ve identified what you’re feeling and thinking, release it. Let the energy go. Let it leave your body. You can chatter all you want about what’s going on with you, but that doesn’t release the energy from your system anymore than talking about a splinter takes it out. Sometimes the process will sting just a bit when you pull out the splinter. But don’t worry. It won’t hurt for long. And soon you’ll feel better than you felt in a long time.

Often the process of releasing all toxins can be as gentle and natural as the way a flower or a tree grows with sunshine and rain, a little bit of fertile soil, and a little pruning and weeding.

Growth can be gentle now. Growth can be fun. Breathe in new air. Breathe in new energy. Exhale the past, it’s feelings, beliefs and toxins. Let it go. Let yourself be transformed.

Upper Body Tension & Pain? How are you Breathing?

How are you breathing?

Years ago, my chiropractor mentioned I was not breathing with my belly... my upper body was a disaster of chronic tightness and pain.

As I’ve focused on breath regularly through my yoga practice... there has been a significant change in my body tension and my overall sense of well being.

You can train your body to breathe in through your nose, expand the breath into your belly and gently exhale in the same manner.  Over time, it’s a Habit you no longer have to focus on... you begin to breathe this way without focusing it, as your body realizes how much more efficient it is.

I’d say it’s worth a try...

Most of us know what we should be doing to improve our health and prevent disease… but we are not doing those things. The amount of conflicting information is down right overwhelming.

Health Coaching can be a single session or a series of sessions, offered to an individual, a couple or for a family. A session could be as simple as a Grocery Shopping Tour; to truly learn what the packaged food labels are saying and not saying.

This article provides a great overview of what a Health Coach can offer you… especially now that your New Year’s Resolutions to get healthy, are nothing but a frustration.

10 Reasons You Need a Health Coach : article by Beth Anderson

Bottom-line, as much as we are all similar we are different. Being healthy is not one size fits all. There are definitely a set of “healthy foundations” to build from… but after that, the Healthy Choices need to fit YOUR life-style and interests.

A Health Coach can guide you through this process. The intent of working with a Health Coach, is to discover YOUR own set of choices that will keep YOU healthy going forward… and not have you tied to a boring structured program… that can become very expensive over time!

The Story Behind Body Be Well Solutions

Rebecca Albert, LMT & INHC, Owner of Body Be Well Solutions

My story is quite simple… I'm very blessed and grateful that a life changing event in my health "pushed" me to make major changes over a decade ago. Those major changes were made One Choice at a Time, and they are now Healthy Habits which keep my Body Well.

Keep in mind, as I age and my life continues to change, I am regularly adjusting my Choices and Habits to maintain ongoing Balance. This includes what I eat, drink, listen to, read and the activities I participate in and people I associate with.

I'm a former smoker, caffeine junkie, binge eater of sugar free, fat free, low calorie packaged food of all sorts.  I have been overweight, experienced terrible mood swings, slept very little, had low energy, major brain fog and very poor self-esteem.  Eventually all these poor choices and self-perceptions caught up with me and then ...CRASH.

My first step was to quit smoking and begin exercising.  Additionally, I significantly reduced my caffeine consumption.  I began to recognize there were other ways to relax and unwind without alcohol.  Soon after reducing the caffeine and alcohol, I started to understand and appreciate the value of a good night's sleep and how my body felt when properly hydrated by drinking water.

Overall, I began to feel better; these Healthy Choices were moving me in the right direction... but I still had more chronic daily pain than I should at that my age and continued to generally feel sluggish.  I was still over weight; even though I was exercising regularly.

My next step on my journey to Health Habits had the greatest impact of them all.  I took the approach of “clean low glycemic eating” and began taking high quality vitamins and supplements.  This is when things really began to change... and they did so quickly.  I lost inches everywhere, especially around my waist.  My percentage of body fat dropped into a very healthy range for my age.  I lost the "extra pounds and sluggish brain-fog" I was carrying around.  More importantly... my daily aches, pains and stiffness diminished significantly, my muscle tone improved and so did my strength and flexibility.

What was so different about this Healthy Choice?  By eating clean low glycemic foods, my body was no longer in a constant state of unhealthy inflammation.  As a bonus the high-quality vitamins and supplements I began taking with consistency enabled my body to "heal" some of the damage I had caused with so many years of prior poor choices.

As a massage therapist for almost 15 years, I specialized in helping my clients manage chronic pain.  After experiencing these changes in my own health, I decided to share this approach of Healthier Choices with my clients.  I chose to become a Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  During my training at IIN I studied over 100 different dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

I do not believe there is one approach to being Healthy for everyone.  However, an essential first step toward Making Healthy a Habit, One Choice at a Time is to understand how our food and beverage choices affect our health.  Once we have this foundation, we can begin to find our personal BALANCE of healthy nutritious food and fun and interesting physical activity.

I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and doing so has changed my life on so many levels, it’s difficult to put into words.  Physically as a massage therapist, yoga has saved my career, through my body awareness of movement, stillness and strength.  I personally believe in myself and my value more than I ever have in my life. Yoga has been the outlet and provided the awareness I needed to understand and navigate through many difficult situations and relationships. Yoga is not just about physical movement; it can be so much more to those who want it.  In a sense, the movements of Yoga can offer many of the same effects as massage therapy.  Through the guidance of my yoga teachers I’ve experienced a level of connection and comfort within myself.  As a Certified Trauma Informed Registered Yoga Teacher, I am sharing this through my Mindful Movement program.

We all have a story... let go and begin to grow

We all have a story.  We all go through experiences and relationships that will always be a part of defining who we are.  The key is ...they are just one piece of our story... those experiences and relationships are lessons -they do not define who we are as a whole.  Acknowledge they happened, forgive yourself if you feel some sort of guilt, take the lesson and “let go and begin to grow”

Healthy Choices Strategy

There is a difference between feeding your body and nourishing it.  Learn more about your choices and their impact.  How do you start?  Take a few days to stop consuming processed, sugary convenient foods and beverages... alcohol, sugar, processed grains and dairy... if you feel as though you have a hangover or are getting the flu... that’s your body naturally detoxing the “garbage” you were “feeding” it.

Finding the best in others...

We are not going to agree with everyone.  We are not going to have the same beliefs.  We are not going to have the same goals.  We are not all going to have the same experiences.  Yet, if we look for and recognize the good in another... we will find the absolute best in ourselves.

Share it, don’t let it grow

So many people are carrying around such emotional pain and sadness... it’s so heavy and can be downright debilitating.  As scary as the thought is to share it... the consequences of continuing to hold it, burying it deep inside and denying its existence are simply tragic to ones health... emotional, spiritual and yes -physical.

How relieving can a good cry be? Sharing pain with another and feeling a sense of not being alone. The comfort of another saying you deserve better, it’s ok.

One of the most essential needs we each have -is simply to be heard.  We don’t always need answers or solutions... we just need to be heard.

Share it, put it out there... give yourself a chance to recover and heal.  Let it go.

When we change the way we look at things, we see things differently

Not sure how long ago I came across this, or even where I did. But it seems whenever I need to make a slight adjustment on where I’m going or what I’m focusing on… I stumble across this. Strange how what we need, is generally right there when we need it… everything happens for a reason.
