change is good

What have you chosen to believe about yourself?

Beliefs are stronger than willpower. Take a moment and consider what you believe about yourself.

Do you believe in a growth or fixed mindset? The implications may explain a lot- especially when looking to change a habit. Learning is necessary to change a habit.

Approach to Sustainable Change

Being healthy and managing your weight can be like the seasons we experience each year, requiring us to regularly make changes to adapt.

A productive approach to sustainable change…consider the positive habits you already have concerning a healthy lifestyle and amplify those behaviors.

Change that is motivated by fear, guilt, regret or a desire to fix a perceived weakness often leads to negative a self-defeating cycle in which we try and fail and keep being reminded of what is not working.

Focus and build on the positives, leave the negatives behind.

Change is a Choice; Which You Must be Ready for

When it comes to change; It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t.

It’s some people are ready for change and some are not.

Some are able to make changes alone. Some need a little support and guidance.

Pace yourself. Small steps. You’ll get there.

Make Healthy a Habit, One Choice at a Time.

You are worth the investment. Wouldn't you agree?

You are correct; being healthy is not free. Being overweight, sedentary with a weakened immune system is not free either.

There is an investment in being healthy or cost for illness - either way it will involve time and money.

Your CHOICE where you spend it.

Ask yourself-

How many of the social media diet supplements, meal replacements or programs have you bought that did not work long-term or work at all?

How much are the co-pays for the doctor visits, lab work, physical therapy sessions and medication’s to manage a chronic illness, fatigue, pain, etc.?  Did you include the costs of the all the over the counter products for sinus congestion, runny noses, sleep problems, digestive issues, etc.?

What is the potential future cost of all these reactive approaches?

What is the emotional and the psychological toll on yourself and your love ones when you cannot join them in an activity due to just not feeling well or illness?

How much are you missing out on?

Autumn is known as the season of change - What does that mean to you?

One the most beautiful things about this time of year is the magnificent colors of the leaves on the various trees. The resulting falling of those leaves is just as beautiful.

Did you know that leaves falling is not about loss- it is about growth. When a tree sheds its leaves, the nutrients of the tree are withdrawing into the branches, the trunk and the roots. All in preparation for sustaining the Winter months and producing new growth in the Spring.

Does that provide you a different perspective on change?

Don’t fear change; change is growth -fear not changing.

What is your opinon of change?

Everyone Feels Anxiety at Some Point

Manage anxiety with mindfulness.

Mindfulness is about focusing on the present moment and being fully there. You can practice this while sitting still, or it may be easier to start with guided breathing or a yoga or meditation session. With practice, mindfulness can help you redirect or quiet the anxiety.

Curious on how to begin simply? Start by closing your eyes, now observe your breath by focusing on an inhale and then an exhale, repeat. Become aware of the areas of your body that move by your breath. You have just been mindful and fully in the moment.

It takes practice, there is no perfect, no judgment.

A Shift in Perspective

Not sure how long ago I came across this, or even where I did. But it seems whenever I need to make a slight adjustment on where I’m going or what I’m focusing on… I stumble across this.

Strange how what we need, is generally right there when we need it… everything happens for a reason.

One day a professor entered the classroom and asked his students to prepare for a surprise test. They waited anxiously at their desk for the test to begin. The professor handed out the question paper, with the text facing down as usual. Once he handed them all out, he asked his students to turn the page over and begin. To everyone surprised there were no questions… Just a black dot in the center of the page.

The professor seeing the expression on everyone’s face, told them the following; I want you to write what you see there. The students confused, got started on the inexplicable task. At the end of the class, the professor took all of the answered papers and started reading each one of them aloud in front of the students. All of them with no exceptions, describe the black dot and its position in the middle of the sheet. After all, had been read, the classroom silent, the professor begins to explain -

I am not going to grade you on this, I just wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot, and the same happens in our lives. We have a white paper to see and enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots.

Life is a gift, with love and with care and we always have reasons to celebrate..  nature renewing itself every day, our friends around us, the job that supplies our livelihood and the miracles we see every day. However, we tend to insist on focusing only on the dark spots, health issues that bother us, the lack of money, a complicated relationship with a family member, the disappointment with a friend etc.

The dark spots are very small compared to everything we have in our lives, but they are the ones that pollute our minds. Take your eyes away from the dark spots in your life.

Synergy with Others

We are not going to always agree with everyone.  We are not going to have the same beliefs.  We are not going to have the same goals.  We are not all going to have the same experiences.

One cannot spend energy helping another, without finding an even larger benefit for themselves.

Look for and recognize the good in others -ultimately find the best in yourself.

What actually happens to your body when you start doing yoga?

Many thoughts come to mind when you do yoga for the first time.

As you stand in the back of a class, or unfurl a yoga mat at home, it can all seem like a lot of wobbling on one foot as you struggle to figure out a pose. But even if… Read more

It is your journey

There is always time to change the path you are on.

Maybe a conversation, with a Health Coach familiar with numerous diet approaches could assist you. Perhaps a Massage Therapist who has specialized in helping clients manage chronic pain for over 15years would have a suggestion or two on how to address some of your concerns of aging and the accompanying daily aches. Could a Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher potentially guide you through some mindfulness, gentle movement activities to safely become more active and in better physical shape all while restoring some balance to your life?

What are you waiting for? Yesterday you said tomorrow… lets get started, the choice is yours.

What is best for you?

If they were all the perfect option -why would we need the options at all... wouldn't everyone already be healthy, in great shape and living their best life?

Each of us have choices to make regarding our own health and well-being. Lately we are overwhelmed with numerous diet and exercise options and choices on how to get healthy, lose weight and live our best life. And everyone one of the options claims to be the one YOU need.

How do you decide?

An Ongoing Natural Process

Your body makes new cells from what you eat. During sleep, your body works to repair muscle, organs, and other cells. Additionally, chemicals are produced through the metabolism of the nutrients you consume that strengthen your immune system and are in full force of circulation through your system during your sleep.

You are what you eat and your body rebuilds while you’re asleep.

No matter how much it gets abused, the body can restore itself. The first step in to stop interfering with nature. -Deepak Chopra

Allow the time for change

Life is a delicate balance of holding on and letting go.

During this season of turning inward, seeking warmth and comfort, looking for change, uncertain of what direction to go or what are the best personal choices to make; the secret is in knowing …

What to hold on to, and what to let go…

  • Let go, once the lesson is learned.

  • Hold on to what is adding value.

  • Let go of beliefs that no longer serve you.

  • Hold on to what energizes you.

Letting go

- Holding on

When to stand your ground, or when to walk in someone else's shoes. When to hold yourself accountable, and when to forgive. When to remember and when to forget. When to accept and when to change. What to hold on to, and what to let go. The list goes on and on.

All of it comes down to choice. The choice is a personal one. A choice we each own. We can be influenced by those around us, although it still comes down to each of our choices.
